Director of Nursing
(DON) – We employ a skilled and experienced RN to serve as DON. The
DON is responsible for all aspects of patient care in the facility and is
onsite at least 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.
Assistant Director
of Nursing (ADON) – A skilled LPN assists the DON with documentation,
scheduling and other employee related issues. The ADON assists other
nurses with direct patient care when needed and is on site at least 8
hours a day, Monday through Friday.
RN Supervisors –
On weekends, supervision of the nursing staff is in the hands of
alternating RN Supervisors. These experienced RNs are responsible for all
aspects of patient care in the absence of the DON and ADON, giving our
residents RN coverage 7 days a week.
Floor Nurses –
Good Samaritan employs eight LPNs as Floor Nurses. Two of these nurses
are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These are the “hands on”
care givers. In cooperation with the residents’ physicians, they
administer medications, keep a record of vital signs and chart on the
residents’ condition and progress.
Treatment Nurse
–
We employ two RNs and
an LPN to treat pressure ulcers and other wounds
which are prevalent in the elderly and the bed-bound. One of these nurses
is onsite at least 8 hours a day, seven days a week.
Restorative Nurse
- Good Samaritan Living Center is proud of it’s commitment to the
Restorative Nursing Program. We employ a Restorative Nurse (LPN) and Aide
(CNA) who assist the residents in regaining or maintaining as much
independence as possible. The Restorative Program is designed to assist
residents in becoming more independent in their activities of daily
living, or ADLs, which includes personal hygiene, mobility, toileting,
communicating and eating. The ability of a resident to perform these
basic tasks is directly related to that resident’s level of dignity and
wellbeing. The Restorative Nursing staff is onsite at least 8 hours a
day, 6 days a week (Mon-Sat).
Certified Nursing
Assistants – Good Samaritan maintains a staff of 25 to 30 quality
CNAs. These unsung heroes are the backbone of long term care. They
assist the residents in any activities of daily living in which the
resident requires assistance. In a typical day, our CNAs will assist
residents in getting in and out of bed, toileting, bathing, dressing,
grooming, eating and getting around the facility.
We schedule between 12
and 16 CNAs per day, 7 days a week.
Grooming
Aide – Good Samaritan has recently added a certified nursing
assistant to the staff whose sole responsibility is the grooming
of our residents. Our Grooming Aide has set up shop in our
onsite beauty/barber shop where she provides hair care, nail
care, skin care and dental care for our residents on a daily
basis. At Good Samaritan we believe that brushed or combed
hair, clean and trimmed nails, freshly brushed teeth or dentures
and (if requested) a little make-up, go a long way in improving
our residents’ quality of life by improving how they feel about
their appearance. So far, our residents seem to love this new
service. One says she feels “Spoiled Rotten” with her daily
grooming.
Medical Director
– Good Samaritan contracts with a licensed MD to serve as Medical
Director. Our Medical Director makes rounds at the facility at least once
a month,
serves as attending
physician for many of our residents and is on
call and available to all of our residents 24 hours a day. The Medical
Director also serves on the Quality Assurance Committee.
Physician Services
– Residents have the right to choose their own attending physician. All
attending physicians are required to make rounds at least once a month
