At Good Samaritan Living Center we have been quite busy over the past 18 months.  As a not-for-profit facility, we don’t have owners to pay at the end of the month.  This enables us to reinvest excess revenues into the facility.  In the past 18 months Good Samaritan has:

  • replaced all of its kitchen equipment (oven/range, deep fryer, steamer, reach-in and walk-in refrigerators, walk-in freezer and food processor)

  • replaced the 60# washer/extractor in the laundry

  • replaced all resident room furniture (armoires, dressers, nightstands and beds) with quality Akin Healthcare Furniture and state-of-the-art Carroll Arro beds.

  • redecorated the lobby, dining room and dayrooms with all new furniture, window treatments and 42” wall mounted plasma televisions

  • added a new Chevy Astro Van to our fleet of vehicles

  • upgraded our security camera system to a 16 camera web-based program that allows our Administrator and DON to monitor the facility from their offices or from home

  • acquired an Arjo Sit-To-Stand Lift with digital scales

  • acquired a Detecto Digital Bed Scale for weighing the bed-bound.

We have invested over $300,000 in capital improvements during the past year and a half.  This is all a part of our commitment to put our residents’ needs first and to make Good Samaritan Living Center the premier nursing facility on the Northshore.

In addition to what we’ve already done, we have a number of projects on the drawing board.  These include:

  • replacing our nurses’ station

  • replacing our nurse call system with a state-of-the-art wireless nurse call and patient tracking program

  • upgrading our emergency generator to 250 kilowatts allowing us to run the entire building during any power outage, and

  • installing a wall mounted flat panel television at the foot of all 84 beds in the facility.

At Good Samaritan, we don’t believe in simply meeting minimum standards – we insist on exceeding them because our seniors are worth it.
